This 3 Days Murchison Falls Safari Tour offers you a short break into the wilderness of Murchison Falls national park. The Park is covering 1500 sq. km. and is the largest and oldest conservation area in Uganda. Located at the edge of the albertine rift valley. Here you will find diverse habitats such as palm dotted Savannah grasslands bisected by the Nile. The park offers a fantastic African safari opportunity to see wildlife both in the bush and along the river Nile. There are 79 mammals and 415 bird species in this park. Rothschild’s giraffe, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, lion, leopard and antelopes like Uganda kob, hartebeest, oribi, bushbuck are to be find. Besides the park is the home of waterbuck and many bird species like fish eagle, kingfishers, pelicans. There are also primates such as patas monkeys.

Day 1 Kampala to Murchison Falls

You will be met by our driver guide at your place of stay within central Kampala. Transfer by road north of country after briefing in a private 4×4 safari vehicle to Murchison falls national park. Along the way, make a stop at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will be led out on foot into a rhino wilderness and in the company of a trained and armed ranger guide. The rhinos are let to roam free on 7000 acres of secured land. There are also a few other surprise species to see like antelope and smaller bush creatures.

Thereafter, proceed even further north past small upcountry towns, farm lands and vast vegetation cover. Arrive at MFNP through Masindi and the southern gate where you will proceed past the might top of the falls.  This is believed to the world’s strongest waterfall created as the Nile river squeezes through an 8meter narrow gorge and plunges 45 meters into the devil’s cauldron.

Later, you will cross the Nile bridge to your overnight lodge on the northern part of the park. Relax the rest of the day, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and boat safari

After early breakfast, go out on a guided tour of MFNP in search of large mammals, big cats and antelopes such as elephant, Rothchild’s giraffe, buffalo, lion, leopard, Uganda kob, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi and waterbuck.  Your game drive at the Nile delta area where you can enjoy some refreshments in full view of hippo as they cool off in the shallow waters. Return to lodge a little later for lunch after a rewarding morning.

Just after lunch, take a boat cruise upstream towards the falls watched by animals like elephant, Nile crocodile, hippos and a number of water birds.  Many animals come down to the river to cool off at this time of day + the amazing scenery from the comfort of your boat, offers a great photo opportunity. Take a few minutes to enjoy the amazing view as the water plunges to the river bed before returning to the banks and eventually back your overnight lodge for the rest of the day.

Day 3: End of Murchison Falls Safari Tour and back to Kampala

Depart Murchison after a relaxed breakfast and arrive in the city sometime in the early to mid-afternoon hours.
